About Jeff Shuford
Jeff Shuford is a distinguished journalist, veteran advocate, and co-founder of the National Invest In Veterans Week® (NIVW), an initiative recognized by Congress for its commitment to supporting veterans and promoting veteran-owned businesses. Under Jeff's leadership, NIVW has expanded its reach to 19 U.S. markets and 21 international markets, organizing various events aimed at enhancing community support for veterans transitioning to civilian life.
A proud Iraq War veteran, Jeff has significantly impacted business and technology journalism, with his columns widely syndicated through American City Business Journals and GateHouse Media, making him one of the most recognized Black columnists in the nation. His research contributions to the ethical implications of artificial intelligence have been cited in prestigious publications, reinforcing his influence in the field.
Jeff is the grandson of Jim Freeman, an iconic member of The Five Satins, renowned for their classic hit “In the Still of the Night.” Jim Freeman's contributions to music were honored when he was entered into the Congressional Record in April 2015, recognizing his pivotal role in the doo-wop genre and celebrating the lasting impact of The Five Satins on American music culture. His distinct bass vocals helped shape the group’s sound, making them one of the most celebrated vocal groups of their time. This recognition not only highlighted Jim's musical legacy but also underscored the cultural significance of doo-wop music in America.
